Ads.txt - What is it and How to install it
You can find more information about this project on the IAB website .
Why should you have ads.txt?
As an Webmaster, why should you bother implementing an ads.txt file?
- - Higher CPM
- Advertisers and media buyers are lowering CPM rates due to possible fraud, as they can not verify the impressions that are actually displayed on your website. Once you are able to easily confirm that your site's traffic is legit, you are more prone to higher offers.
- - Avoid loss of income
- Also as time goes on more and more advertising companies are going to do a mandatory verification of ads.txt and they are simply not going to buy traffic from sites that do not have it. So it's better to be prepared.
- 1). Collect the necessary information from the AD Networks, DSP and media buyers. You can request it by email or find it in your account. This includes the domain name of the advertising system, account ID, type of relationship (distributor or direct ) and if available, the ID of the certification account of verified advertising systems. Here is an example of agreement:
- google.com, ca-pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0
- 2). Create a text document ads.txt with any text editor and list all the information you have received from your advertising partners.
- 3). Load the document in the root of your domain as a public file, so it is visible by programmatic buyers. You can do it using the FTP server.
- 4). Save the file and add new lines if necessary when subscribing new partners like Ads | Oceans.
